The Challenge

Most people agree that environmental conservation is extremely important. Conservation work can be very exciting and engaging from a communications point of view, but many times, it seems to be the other way around. Environmentalists can be seen in a negative way and the value of the objectives they pursue is at times difficult to convey. When Conservation International in Costa Rica invited us to work with them by shedding light on important conservation, resource management, and policy issues, we knew we had our work cut out for us.

The Solution

Ironically, in order to design communication products on a regional level, communication itself is key.

Very quickly, we understood that when so much is at stake, every voice needs to be considered. In creating the voice of Conservation International in Costa Rica, we followed the guidance of the NGO’s national strategy, yet validated it with the organization’s stakeholders and partners.

Conservation International is one of the largest NGOs in the world, so we always make sure that our messages align with the narrative of the whole organization and the priorities of their global strategy, translating that into something understandable and attractive for the Costa Rican audience.

For us working with LUMA has been the happy union of science and conservation with the world of information and communication. We couldn’t be happier.
